Today I was at the mall looking for headphones to my Sony Xperia J

I walked around the Apple company store "iSpot" I went there out of curiosity I wanted to see how much they cost Apple laptop I was shocked.
I have a asus laptop ( Intel core 2 duo 2,66 Ghz 1 GB RAM and NVIDIA chipset 512 MB) and and decent desktop computer( is quite old but when i bought it was real supercomputer Very Happy (Intel Core 2 Quad Q8400 2.66 Ghz 4 GB RAM i added 2 GB extra so now is 6 GB RAM 512MB NVIDIA GT (i get it in replacement for my Galaxy 9800 NVIDIA which was three month before my warranty expired Very Happy ))
I would like to mention that I am a Pole here in Poland do not earn as much as Americans, or even our Western neighbors Germany, because that we more respect every spent penny.

I thought to save some money and buy a laptop from Apple, I've heard that Mac OS is better than Windows, but I do not know under what terms. On Windows, you can run a much greater number of games than the Mac OS so what the operating system is better than Windows, Apple computers, and why are 50% if not more more expensive than PC class computers

For now I'm using the new Windows 8 Home Edition which I bought a month ago, I missed a bit of good old start menu and that it can not be reset in place of Modern UI, but I going to get used to it.

It's the operating system that's expensive. Just imagine it costs $800. Laughing The high price helps keep customers low enough that the service experience is generally better, with things like less wait time and faster turn around. (In the states, at least)

OS quality is subjective, I prefer OSX because I find it less distracting, more clearly organized and with better tools for managing my files. More to the point, I like a lot of the music software that is OSX only and for audio use the foundations of OSX are more stable, reliable and flexible out of the box. I dual boot to use the one remaining windows only program I enjoy.

There are ways to run OSX on your own hardware, but I have the money to support the software and hardware engineers at Apple who I feel do good work. I hope they are well compensated.

Hopefully, in the future we will have enough power and battery life to spare to run multiple operating systems slide by side, without third party emulation.

I agree, if you like games windows makes more sense, especially for a custom desktop system.

Two operating systems at once? Sounds weird to me. I guess if you want to play games or use a program that's only available in one operating system it could be okay. But there's Wine ( and similar solutions for that. ) It runs slower, but I think the overhead of two operating systems would slow it down even more.

It's better to find an OS you like, then maybe dual boot for those few programs your favorite operating system runs.

And as for games; Linux ( with the upcoming Steam release ) and OS X has had Steam for a few years. Not saying every game will be cross-platform. But I think more and more games will be. At least I hope so.

Just curious; what music software are you referring to? Don't most of it run on Windows?

The New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) is a commodity futures exchange owned and operated by CME Group of Chicago. NYMEX is located at One North End Avenue in the World Financial Center in the Battery Park City section of Manhattan, New York City. Additional offices are located in Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, San Francisco, Dubai, London, and Tokyo.

The company's two principal divisions are the New York Mercantile Exchange and Commodity Exchange, Inc (COMEX), once separately owned exchanges. NYMEX Holdings, Inc., the former parent company of the New York Mercantile Exchange and COMEX, became listed on the New York Stock Exchange on November 17, 2006, under the ticker symbol NMX. On March 17, 2008, Chicago based CME Group signed a definitive agreement to acquire NYMEX Holdings, Inc. for $11.2 billion in cash and stock and the takeover was completed in August 2008. Both NYMEX and COMEX now operate as designated contract markets (DCM) of the CME Group. The other two designated contract markets in the CME Group are the Chicago Mercantile Exchange and the Chicago Board of Trade.

The New York Mercantile Exchange handles billions of dollars worth of energy products, metals, and other commodities being bought and sold on the trading floor and the overnight electronic trading computer systems for future delivery. The prices quoted for transactions on the exchange are the basis for prices that people pay for various commodities throughout the world.

The floor of the NYMEX is regulated by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, an independent agency of the United States government. Each individual company that trades on the exchange must send its own independent brokers. Therefore, a few employees on the floor of the exchange represent a big corporation and the exchange employees only record the transactions and have nothing to do with the actual trade.

Although mostly electronic since 2006, the NYMEX maintains a small venue that still practices the open outcry trading system, in which traders employ shouting and complex hand gestures on the physical trading floor. A project to preserve the hand signals used at NYMEX has been published.

Early history

Commodity exchanges began in the middle of the 19th century, when businessmen began organizing market forums to make buying and selling of commodities easier. These marketplaces provided a place for buyers and sellers to set the quality, standards, and establish rules of business. By the late 19th century about 1,600 marketplaces had sprung up at ports and railroad stations. In 1872, a group of Manhattan dairy merchants got together and created the Butter and Cheese Exchange of New York. Soon, egg trade became part of the business conducted on the exchange and the name was modified to the Butter, Cheese, and Egg Exchange. In 1882, the name finally changed to the New York Mercantile Exchange when opening trade to dried fruits, canned goods, and poultry.

As centralized warehouses were built into principal market centers such as New York and Chicago in the early 20th century, exchanges in smaller cities began to disappear giving more business to the exchanges such as the NYMEX in bigger cities. In 1933, the COMEX was established through the merger of four smaller exchanges; the National Metal Exchange, the Rubber Exchange of New York, the National Raw Silk Exchange, and the New York Hide Exchange. In the 1970s, COMEX, NYMEX, and other exchanges shared a single trading floor in 4 World Trade Center. This floor was depicted in the 1980s film Trading Places.

Potatoes

For years, the NYMEX traders had done a large business trading futures of the Maine Potato crop. According to Leah McGrath Goodman's 2011 book The Asylum, manipulation in this market was commonplace, performed by various parties including potato inspectors and NYMEX traders. The worst incident was the 1970s potato bust, when Idaho potato magnate J. R. Simplot allegedly went short in huge numbers, leaving a large amount of contracts unsettled at the expiration date, resulting in a large number of defaulted delivery contracts. A public outcry followed, and the newly created Commodity Futures Trading Commission held hearings. NYMEX was barred from trading not only potatoes futures, but from entering new areas it hadn't traded in before. NYMEX's reputation was severely damaged, because, as future chairman Michel Marks told Goodman in his book, "The essence of an exchange is the sanctity of its contract".

Oil

After the potato ban, NYMEX's existence was in doubt. Most of the trading volume had been in potatoes. Without a good commodity, the traders had trouble making money. Eventually the new chairman, Michel Marks ? the son of commodities icon Francis Q. Marks ? along with economist Arnold Safer, figured out that NYMEX could revamp an old heating oil futures contract. When the government deregulated heating oil, the contract had a chance of becoming a good object of trade on the floor. A new futures contract was carefully drawn up and trading began on a tiny scale in 1978. Some of the first users of NYMEX heating oil deliveries were small scale suppliers of people in the Northern United States.

NYMEX's business threatened some entrenched interests like big oil and government groups like OPEC that had traditionally controlled oil prices. NYMEX provided an "open market" and thus transparent pricing for heating oil, and, eventually, crude oil, gasoline, and natural gas. NYMEX's oil futures contracts were standardized for the delivery of West Texas Intermediate light, sweet crude oil to Cushing, Oklahoma.

Growth

The energy trading business took off, and NYMEX boomed. The open outcry floor became a cacophony of shouting traders and pit cards. The pits became a place where many people without much education or ability to fit in to Wall Street could have a chance at being rich. Many traders and executives became millionaires. They threw lavish parties and went on exotic vacations. Many of these people also became heavily involved in drugs and prostitution, with drugs being traded right on the floor of the exchange. Goodman's book tells the stories of many of the personalities that built the exchange in this era.

COMEX (Commodity Exchange, Inc), one of the exchanges that shared 4 World Trade Center with NYMEX, had traditionally looked down on NYMEX for being smaller and for having the toxic reputation from the potato bust. With NYMEX's energy trading boom, it became much larger and wealtheir than COMEX. On August 3, 1994, the NYMEX and COMEX finally merged under the NYMEX name. By the late 1990s, there were more people working on the NYMEX floor than there was space for them. In 1997, the NYMEX moved to a new building on the Southwestern portion of Manhattan, part of a complex called the World Financial Center.

9/11

NYMEX maintained a close relationship with many organizations and people at World Trade Center, and several NYMEX people were lost in the tragedy, even though the NYMEX building itself was mostly undamaged. Despite the devastation, the exchange's management and staff had the exchange back up and running in very short order. After the attacks, the NYMEX built a $12 million trading floor backup facility outside of New York City with 700 traders' booths, 2,000 telephones, and a backup computer system. This backup was in case of another terrorist attack or natural disaster in Lower Manhattan.

On February 26, 2003, the New York Board of Trade (NYBOT) signed a lease agreement with the NYMEX to move into its World Financial Center headquarters and trading facility after the NYBOT's original headquarters and trading floor was destroyed in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

Electronic trading

NYMEX held a virtual monopoly on "open market" oil futures trading (as opposed to the dark market or "over the counter" market). However in the early 2000s the electronically based exchanges started taking away the business of the open outcry markets like NYMEX. Enron's online energy trading system was part of this trend. Jeff Sprecher's IntercontinentalExchange, or ICE, was another example. ICE eventually began trading oil contracts that were extremely similar to NYMEX's, taking away market share almost immediately.

The open outcry NYMEX pit traders had always been against electronic trading because it threatened their income and their lifestyle. The executives at NYMEX felt that electronic trading was the only way to keep the exchange competitive. NYMEX teamed up with the Chicago Mercantile Exchange to use Globex in 2006. The trading pits emptied out as many traders quit. Banks, hedge funds, and huge oil companies stopped making telephone calls to the pits and started trading directly for themselves over screens.

In this period the NYMEX also worked on founding the Dubai Mercantile Exchange in the United Arab Emirates. This was fictionalized by Ben Mezrich in his book Rigged.

Sell off

The final executive management of NYMEX decided to sell it off in pieces, take golden parachute buyouts, and leave. In 2006 NYMEX underwent an Initial Public Offering (IPO) and was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The executives and exchange members owning seats on the exchange saw their net worth increase by millions of dollars in a few hours - many of the pit traders, who leased their seats instead of owning, did not. Other parts of NYMEX were sold to private equity investors and the Chicago Mercantile Exchange. The CME got ownership of the physical facilities and began scrubbing the NYMEX logo and name off of various artefacts and closed the NYMEX museum. NYMEX eventually became little more than a brand name used by CME. By 2011, NYMEX open outcry trading was relegated for the most part to a small number of people trading options.

Gold delivery problems

In 2009 it was reported that holders of COMEX gold futures contracts experienced problems taking delivery of their metal. Along with chronic delivery delays, some investors received delivery of bars not matching their contract in serial number and weight. The delays could not be easily explained by slow warehouse movements, as the daily reports of these movements showed little activity. Because of these problems, there were concerns that COMEX did not have the gold inventory to back its existing warehouse receipts.

Simpson College names Jay Simmons as New President

INDIANOLA, Iowa (AP) - The president of Iowa Wesleyan College has been named the 23rd president of Simpson College in Indianola.

Simpson announced Monday that Jay Simmons will replace President John W. Byrd, who is retiring next spring after an 8-year tenure.

Simpson leaders said Simmons was chosen after a nationwide search because he impressed college officials with his leadership, academic experience, fundraising success and management style.

Simpson had led Iowa Wesleyan in Mount Pleasant for the last four years. The Alabama native came to Iowa for that job after working a decade as vice president for academic affairs and dean at LaGrange College in Georgia.

Simmons says Simpson is positioned to increase its prominence in higher education, and that he couldn't be more enthusiastic about starting the job.

The Best Tips And Tricks On Search Engine Optimization

Utilizing search engine optimization techniques will do wonders for giving you an edge over your competition. However, proper SEO work isn?t easy. The following article will help you harness this power while telling you what to avoid when utilizing search engine optimization.

Social media sites can serve as great marketing tools to promote your business. Twitter and Facebook are completely interactive, and the video sharing site YouTube is an effective way to showcase your product.

The options are limitless when it comes to ways to improve your sites ranking, but trying to learn them all is not the best option. The truth is that there are just not enough hours in the day to master every little technique, so pick one that looks promising and exploit this angle as much as you can.

Your website design should focus on maximizing your use of keywords and attracting your target market. You can expand your reach and simultaneously attract return readers by continuing to post new SEO content regularly. To get your site a higher search engine ranking make sure the main key words are represented in all titles and links, especially with images and any other areas where you can include text.

Consider the anchor text, the actual text of your links, carefully when making internal links on your site. A common example of poor anchor text is ?click here?. This anchor text contributes nothing to your search rank. Spiders focus on keywords, so if you pick out the most appropriate keywords for your content, they will count your anchor text towards your overall relevancy.

Don?t make pages that have nothing but links on them. Instead, try to blend them in for best results. Readers don?t really like contextless links, and search engines penalize pages with a high link-to-text ratio. Making your content match your text helps search engines have an easier time indexing your site and makes your website look more professional.

If you publish your web content in another language and not english, be sure to use the ?language? meta tag. You will get a higher rank in the search engine if someone searches using that particular language.

A product feed is an effective way to grow your client roster and attract a larger number of visitors to your website. Use these to provide important details about the product or service you offer. The best places to submit are shopper comparison sites and the major search engines. It will also be possible for consumers to receive the feed directly, through a reader.

Search engines are the most popular portals between online businesses and online consumers. Some companies do not have a grasp of this.

It can be helpful for the owner or boss of a company to be active in providing content like blogs for the company website. This is your voice of your company, and your readers want to hear that.

Focus as much on keeping people on your site as you do to get them there. This will, in turn, assist in your PageRank numbers. It is proven that spending more time working on a site increases the page rank. This information is according to metrics such as Quantcast scores. Forums and message boards are great ways to keep visitors engaged with your site for long periods of time.

Make sure that any link directories you use for your site contain high quality, real websites. It is common for directories to be filled with sites that are not current or feature bad design. Be very cautious about who you align yourself with.

While pictues make a website look attractive, sites that are looking to improve their search rankings don?t concentrate on images. Image links do not link your content to the search engines effectively.

You can get a little more SEO performance by taking your website into the blogging world. Start a blog of your own, and get involved with other blogs that cover related topics. Blogs can easily rank in search results, as long as they feature new content and quality data. If you want a high search engine ranking, backlinks are really important.

Putting your website in a prime place to be found is what search engine optimization is all about. The article you have just read gave you multiple tips on how to make this happen for you. Applying these simple tricks will get your website noticed in no time, so increase your traffic today!

U.S. soldier in WikiLeaks case says he was held in a 'cage'

FORT MEADE, Maryland (Reuters) - A U.S. Army private facing court-martial on suspicion of leaking secret documents to the WikiLeaks website testified on Thursday he was confined to a "cage" in the early days after his arrest in 2010, and thought he would die there.

Bradley Manning, in his first public comments since his arrest in Iraq, said his isolation led to a rapid decline in his awareness of his surroundings.

He said that he was initially given little or no information about the charges against him.

"My nights were my days and my days were my nights," Manning said. "It all blended together after a couple of days."

Manning said he was confined to a structure he called a "cage" just eight feet (2.43 metres) square located inside a tent. He suffered a breakdown about a month after his May 2010 arrest when he awoke to find a noose in the cage, he said.

"I remember thinking I'm going to die stuck here in this cage," Manning said. "I thought I was going to die in that cage. That's what I saw - an animal cage."

The private's testimony, which could continue into Friday, came on the third day of a hearing at Fort Meade, Maryland to determine whether his case should proceed to a full court-martial.

Manning has offered to plead guilty to less serious offenses than those with which he has been charged, according to his lawyer.

If Manning's case proceeds to trial and he is convicted of all the security breach charges against him, he could face life imprisonment.

    LINKS TO WIKILEAKS

Charges include stealing records belonging to the United States and wrongfully causing them to be published on the Internet and aiding enemies of the United States, identified by prosecutors as al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula, an affiliate of the militant network founded by the late Osama bin Laden.

Prosecutors have alleged that Manning, without authorization, disclosed hundreds of thousands of U.S. diplomatic cables, military reports and video of a military helicopter attack in Iraq in which two Reuters journalists were killed.

WikiLeaks has never confirmed that Manning was the source of any documents it released.

In pre-trial litigation, prosecutors have presented testimony that legal experts say could be used to build a case that Manning had been in email contact with Julian Assange, WikiLeaks' Australian-born founder.

Nearly six months ago, Assange, who faces extradition to Sweden from Britain for questioning in a sexual molestation case, took refuge in the Ecuadorean Embassy in London.

Assange and his supporters have said the Swedish case against him could be part of a secret plot to have him shipped for trial to the United States and either executed or imprisoned at the U.S. detention facility in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

U.S. officials have denied those assertions. But they have acknowledged that a federal grand jury in Alexandria, Virginia, has been collecting evidence about WikiLeaks and some of its activists. Officials have not ruled out U.S. criminal charges against Assange.

Earlier on Thursday, Assange played down reports that his health was declining after Ecuadorean officials said he was suffering from a chronic lung ailment.
