Some of you know that I'm a fitness trainer. And I'm well aware that American women are getting fatter by the day and at a faster rate than American men. Anyway, I was having a conversation with a woman who acts as a professional advocate for me (she believes in what I'm doing) and she is currently writing a book about women's issues. She is a highschool athletics coach, is constantly around men of various ages and actually competes against them (she has the bruises to prove it!). Her contention is that American men, particularly younger men, are simply indifferent to how fat the women they date/marry/poke are. Rather, they are looking for 'easy' or 'swagger' first and foremost. If true, this certainly goes to explain, at least in part, why I'm seeing a general indifference, among women, towards avoiding obesity. Any thoughts ? |

Hey- being overweight is a bummer. Guy, gal, it simply doesn't matter. Guys want babes that are in shape. Pretty simple stuff here. Overweight women send a bad message to their daughters and to other women. "hey, I've given up you can too!" I can understand that women do NOT have it easy, particularly after having a child. And many women after having a kid have that mothering instinct that takes over and they really focus on that more than anything else. Makes sense. So little by little they get overweight and then eventually give up. America is a joke around the weight issue. People are taking zero responsibility for their current conditions. Hey, if everyone is fat, you don't have much of a choice, do you? It's costing America billions...and it's wrong. I am sympathetic to the challenges overweight people have. But most people have simply given up. The further you go towards obesity, the more momentum it gains. I always preferred women that had a little meat on their bodies. But obese and overweight is not my idea of attractive. That doesn't mean they aren't productive and good human beings, good mom's, wives, daughters etc...It doesn't make someone any "less than", but rather proves they have some health challenges, and perhaps self-worth issues...not unlike the rest/best of us... |
